Over the last decade, multi-messenger astrophysics has made significant progress, with more and more very high-energy (VHE) gamma-ray catalogs, gravitational waves, and astrophysical neutrino identifications. The community, also thanks to the fact that the upcoming Cherenkov Telescope Array will be the first experiment in this field to be operated as an observatory, is pushing towards open and accessible data formats and analysis software for better interoperability among instruments. This seminar will outline the current status and future plans of two open science projects in VHE astrophysics: the VHE open data format initiative (VODF) and the gammapy software package, and how these efforts can bring the FAIR principles to this scientific field.
