Bonjour,

 

Unfortunately, we will have an accelerator seminar by a visitor at the same time slot so I cannot attend this meeting.

 

Just a short update: I stayed at KEK for the heat treatment of our 1.3 GHz cavity. We will perform sample analysis to correlate it to RF measurement in November i.e. I will re-visit KEK in November. Then, we may ship the cavity back to Europe...DESY informally agreed on measuring the same cavity. The next steps depend on the result of the test in KEK. If the result is the same as the last test, prepared in IJCLab, we give a 100% green light for the future use of our baking furnace; otherwise, we may do some iterations to identify the differences between KEK and IJCLab.

 

You can have a look at the attached pictures. I tried to identify any tiny differences between our procesure in IJCLab and the one in KEK. There are plenty of major and minor differences; however, nobody knows what determines the high-Q / high-gradient feature of cavities. The systematic and hopefully statistical comparisons are the goal of this activity.
