DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Ibrahim Abdurrahman (FRIB (MSU))\n\nFor many decades
\, quantum many body methods have been applied successfully in describing
the structure of atomic nuclei.  As the models have become more sophistic
ated\, and the available computation resources more powerful\, it is now p
ossible to treat nuclear reactions on the same footing. In this work\, a f
ramework for modeling nuclear reactions within valence space shell model i
s presented\, focusing on neutron on target reactions\, specifically neutr
on on 20Ne and 36Ar. The framework is general enough to be used with any m
any body method\, provided the method can produce all relevant spectroscop
ic amplitudes. The framework can also be extended to charge exchange react
ions\, and to include gamma channels. By treating reactions and structure
in a consistent manner\, a host of questions can be explored\, for example
: what is the range  of applicability of Hauser-Feshbach theory\, which f
orms the foundation of compound nuclear reactions.  \n \n\nhttps://indic
