DESCRIPTION:Nuclear transitions of low energy can couple efficiently to th
e atomic shell in a variety of processes such as internal conversion\, its
inverse process nuclear excitation by electron capture\, nuclear excitati
on by electron transition or electronic bridge. The talk will illustrate a
few such examples involving highly charged ions. First\, the talk will di
scuss the current status of nuclear excitation by electron capture experim
ents and recent proposals. Second\, it will follow theoretical development
s on employing electronic bridge processes for the driving the nuclear clo
ck transition in 229-Th. This nucleus possesses the lowest known nuclear t
ransition energy and promises a novel and unprecedently precise nuclear cl
 ock.\n\nhttps://indico.ijclab.in2p3.fr/event/13876/
