rse phenomenology with an inflaton and primordial black holes"\nAbstract :
\nInflation is widely recognized as the leading paradigm for describing
the universe's initial state as it addresses several limitations of the st
andard ΛCDM cosmology. It elegantly explains the observed homogeneity and
flatness of the universe\, and accurately predicts the anisotropies of th
e Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) and the Large-Scale Structures (LSS).
However\, to be consistently embedded within the cosmological evolution\,
inflation should end and be accompanied by a mechanism that transfers the
energy to relativistic degrees of freedom. This phase\, called reheating\,
is the least constrained period in modern cosmology\, as the only robust
lower bound on it is provided by Big Bang Nucleosynthesis (BBN)\, which oc
curs at temperatures on the order of an MeV. A successful cosmology before
BBN should additionally feature several other processes\, such as dark ma
tter production and the generation of the matter–antimatter asymmetry\,
among others. The problem tightens as modifications of the cosmological or
particle ingredients\, such as cosmic strings\, primordial black holes (P
BH)\, or various dark matter models\, will affect the evolution. This\, al
ong with the uncertainty about inflation\, makes convergence toward a unif
ied scenario rather challenging. In this thesis\, we focus on a minimal in
flationary realization in which a single additional scalar field\, the inf
laton\, slowly rolls down its potential. This slow roll phase allow for a
successful inflation to occur before reheating is achieved when the scalar
field falls at the minimum of the potential\, where it starts to coherent
ly oscillate as an homogeneous condensate in a monomial potential. These o
scillations\, along with dedicated couplings\, allow for continuous inject
ion of entropy and source the radiation before it dominates the energy bud
get of the universe. We study several phenomenological possibilities of th
is perturbative scenario when coupled to other physics. First\, we conside
r a specific setup in which the inflaton can consistently exhibit a small
bare mass within reach of experiment. We constrain this light inflaton sce
nario in the case of an inflaton-Higgs coupling\, showing that above a min
imal reheating temperature\, the inflaton can cure the Higgs instability\,
maintain a consistent reheating and evade experimental bounds. We then ex
tend our considerations to dark matter production\, showing that continuou
s entropy injection during reheating makes relativistic dark matter decoup
ling viable\, even though it is forbidden in standard radiation domination
. The enhanced redshift induced by these models cools the dark matter in a
greement with current constraints on structure formation and relativistic
degrees of freedom\, it interestingly features a mixed behavior between st
andard freeze-in and freeze-out physics. Going further\, we consider the p
otential non-perturbative effects happening near the end of inflation. We
investigate the inflaton self-motion (without couplings) when self-couplin
gs are present around the minimum of the potential. We demonstrate that th
e resulting nonlinear equation of motion induces abrupt energy transfer to
the inflaton quanta after a finite time\, thereby spoiling the initial ho
mogeneity of the condensate and spoiling the standard perturbative picture
for specific reheating channels. Finally\, the last chapter is devoted to
the possibility that primordial black holes serve as the main reheating c
hannel. If the inflaton is sufficiently long-lived\, its fast redshift can
imply a period of PBH domination whose evaporation can source the radiati
on bath. This scenario is of particular interest because it should be acco
 mpanied by minimal gravitational-wave production\, which we discuss.\n \n
