The future is here! LST-1 and its siblings, the first telescopes of the CTAO

Room: 108/1-XX - Grande Salle 108 The Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) will be the next Cherenkov observatory and will play a major role in gamma-ray astronomy, with two sites (North and South) providing coverage of the entire sky. CTA will also be the first Cherenkov observatory whose data will be publicly available. Construction at the northern site has already begun with the first large telescope: the Large Size Telescope (LST-1). With a mirror 23 meters in diameter and weighing 103 metric tons, LST-1 is designed to observe transient objects. The initial results from this instrument will be presented at this seminar. Finally, I will discuss the scientific value of establishing a network of telescopes, as well as the progress made in the construction of the other LSTs, since a total of four LSTs will be built.
