Dark matter searches in very-high-energy photons
A unique probe for searching for dark matter (DM) signals is indirect detection through sky observations with detectors sensitive over the GeV–PeV energy range. Following the path of photons in this energy range from the Universe as they interact with Earth's atmosphere, this talk will showcase a selection of results on indirect DM searches with satellite experiments, water Cherenkov detectors, and imaging atmospheric Cherenkov telescopes. In particular, I will focus on how my analyses of H.E.S.S. data advanced the field. H.E.S.S. is an array of 5 Imaging Atmospheric Cherenkov telescopes in Namibia that has been observing the sky at TeV energies for more than two decades. Some of the most striking results from the H.E.S.S. Collaboration have greatly helped constrain the parameter space of particle dark matter. The discussion will conclude with prospects on DM searches from the coming generation of instruments.
