Description

A microgrid is an electrical system that includes one or multiple loads as well as one or several distributed energy sources that can be operated in parallel with the broader utility grid. These last few years, microgrids have been strongly developing and the utility grid seems to be losing its importance. In this conference, we will answer three main questions:

Question 1: What are the main factors that have set off the development of microgrids?

Question 2: Are microgrids an epiphenomenon? If no, to what extend will they develop? Do they threaten the broader utility grid?

Question 3: What advice to give to (a) power production companies, (b) distribution companies (c) transmission companies, (d) governments to deal with microgrids?
