Description
This talk presents our investigations of the Tayler instability in an incompressible,
viscous and resistive liquid metal column and in a model of liquid
metal battery. Liquid metal batteries (LMBs) have been recently proposed
as a solution to meet future electrical energy storage problems. They are prone to instabilities like the Tayler instability.
