There was general support for such a work package within EUCARD3, with an indicative budget of roughly 400kEuro to be requested from the EU. ·         The three main WP tasks cover: 2) coordination of E&T activities; 3) production of an e-learning platform; 4) coordination of outreach activities. ·         There are two ways in which institutes can participate: 1) as ‘affiliates’ to the network, for intellectual engagement and participation in workshops and meetings; 2) as ‘beneficiaries’, with direct receipt of EU funding, but an expected ‘matching’ contribution from the institute’s own resources.   ·         Tasks 2 and 4 will largely involve meetings and workshops, with some IT support needed for www pages etc.; Task 3 will require, in addition, substantial professional technical input to deliver the e-learning platform. ·         It would be sensible to converge on a small number (2 or 3?) of ‘beneficiary’ institutes, otherwise the sharing of the hoped-for EU contribution among many institutes becomes very inefficient in terms of overhead. These institutes will also need to contribute their own matching resources. It seems sensible to identify a ‘lead’ institute for coordination and technical delivery of the e-learning platform. ·         We discussed costs of the e-learning platform. Nicolas estimated, based on prior experience, order 100kEuro for professional production; there may be, in addition, www hosting and support costs, and contributed academic time. Recorded lectures should be concise, and videoing could in principle be done in a distributed fashion, locally at institutes whose academics are contributing materials. ·         We acknowledged the Nordic ERASMUS+ project, which has secured c. 328kEuro for a ‘Nordic Particle Accelerator School’, including an e-learning component. Anders Karlsson sent a very helpful email to Phil, in which he outlined their activity. We agreed to stay in close contact so as to collaborate where helpful and appropriate. ·         Yogi presented a very comprehensive programme of lectures to be prepared and recorded by ESS, for purposes of education of the project staff. This is admirably ambitious, and a lot of relevant material will be covered in the ESS context.   Next steps and actions:   ·         Nicolas has very kindly created an Indico page to store relevant materials: https://indico.lal.in2p3.fr/category/197/ . This is a public page, so if anyone does NOT want files to be stored there please let Nicolas know. ·         Each person to check on her/his institute’s involvement with EUCARD3, in relation to other WPs, and their desire to be involved with the EUCARD3 education and training (E&T) NA. ·         Experts at institutes with relevant experience should estimate local costs for production of the e-learning platform, so that we can understand the resources that we need for this task. ·         Phil will update the EUCARD3 network activity tasks and resource estimates. ·         EUCARD3 plans will be reported (by Maurizio) at the next TIARA Collaboration Council meeting on November 17th. Phil will be present also to add information on E&T. ·         We will aim to meet next in mid-November in order to progress planning for the network activity. Phil will circulate a doodle poll to find a suitable date.   Do not hesitate to send corrections or comments in case of any mistakes or omissions on my part! Best wishes, Phil
