Description
The LHCb is a single-arm spectrometer being built at the pp-collision point at the LHC. The experiment is aimed at the precision studies of rare phenomena in the b-physics. An essential component of the detector is the calorimeter system, designed for identification and reconstruction of electrons, photons and neutral pions, being also an important ingredient of the trigger. The overview of the LHCb calorimeter is presented, including the recent progress. The principle of design and operation, detector construction and installation are discussed. The performance expected for the LHCb physics reach is illustrated.
