Description
With the advent of the asymmetric B factories, Belle and BaBar, the CP violation in the B sector has been firmly established, the sin2b measurement being now a precision measurement at the % level. The BaBar experiment is now flying towards the goal of 500 fb-1 of colliding beams luminosity at the SLAC asymmetric B-Factory PEP-II. This gives enormous possibilities for exploring also the other angles of the Unitarity Triangle.

After a brief description of the detector and accelerator performances, a review of the current experimental status and perspectives will be given: we will discuss the determination of the phase of the CKM matrix through the study of b-->c and b-->u transitions in (NP free) B decays to charmed mesons, and the (NP sensitive) charmless b-->d and b-->s decays, focusing on the B-->pp measurements related to alpha, the improved measurements of the BR and the direct CP asymmetries in B-->Kp decays, raising the so called \"k-p puzzle\".

A final glance at the state of the art in the flavour sector of the SM (and beyond) will be given, together with improvements expected for the end of data taking (2008).
