SUperB fait partie d'une short list de plusieurs projets d'infrastructure majeurs en Italie (seul projet scientifique) qui sont en considération pour l'inscription à un plan de relance. Le montant demandé au ministère des finances est de l'ordre de 700 M incluant une provision pour plusieurs années de fonctionnement. On espère une décision d'ici la fin de l'année 2° CERN Tu as eu le communiqué du conseil du cern. la phrase importante est celle qui indique que ce projet est bien inscrit dans la stratégie européenne, c'était le feu vert qu'attendait le gvt italien de ce cote la. Concenrnat TIARA, le projet de R&D accélérateurs, dont s'occupe R. Aleksan, SUperB en fera partie. M. Biagini est la correspondante officielle de SuperB. Je joins les quelques idées proposées par J. Stapnes début Septembre Hello, Please find below a short contribution from the SuperB project to the meeting to be held at CERN on Sept 2 concerning the TIARA proposal: The SuperB project team would like to support the present proposal of building a highly coordinated distributed infrastructure for Accelerator R&D in Europe. The SuperB project both in its TDR and construction phase relies heavily in fact on the close interaction of accelerators physicists from many different laboratories (Frascati, SLAC, Orsay, Saclay, Novosibirsk, Cockroft, to name a few) and on their important local infrastructures, such as the DAFNE storage ring. The SuperB project would like to take an active part in the TIARA proposal, being responsible for a WorkPackage devoted to the SuperB project. We are proposing that the WP work program consists, like the TIARA proposal itself, of two parts: the first one related to the preparation of the construction phase in such an internationally distributed environment and will deal mostly with organisation and governance issues. The second part will be devoted to some several medium sized projects (in the 200k-400k full cost range to bridge the gap between the time of the TDR (late 2010) and the start of construction. These projects will be needed to advance the design of SuperB components and to provide extended confidence that the designed items can be successfully constructed. Below are listed a potential list of these projects, all of them having an impact in accelerator R&D well beyond the actual SuperB project and associated to a large infrastructure present in one of the particpating laboratories. 1) design and build a prototype superconducting quadrupole (QD1) for the SuperB IR with the new CDR concept using geometrically aligned superconducting wires. This project would make a single magnet and test it in a vertical cryostat. This vey innovative magnet design will require the usage of a large cryogenic platform. 2) ship the polarized electron injector-gun from SLAC to the France and reconfigure-reassemble it to provide an injector for the Super-B project. The measurement of the polarized emitted beam will require a sophisticated laser infrastructure working along with the electron gun. 3) build an active vibration damper for a quadrupole in the IR. A complete dedicated nanometer sensitive infrastructure will be needed to make measurement and tests with a simulated quadrupole. 4) build three electronics modules for the SuperB ring beam position monitor (BPM) system. The vacuum chamber dimensions and the needed tolerance make these modules state of the art. These three units will be tested at a existing storage ring ( DAFNE) to measure the final produced tolerances of extreme precision. Leith and GW 3 Cote INFN Difficultés résolues avec la region concernant l'interference avec SPARX : les deux projets sont indépendants. le site de Spar X est Tor Vergata. Celui de SUper B est Frascati pour le moment mais un retour à Tor Vergata est possible si indispensable. Un nouveau probleme est cependant apparu: la region ne souhaite pas voir son argent payer des personnes. L'INFN négocie en ce moment pour demande une levee partielle de cetet interdiction portant sur 3 M. EN attendant, retard dans toutes le sembauches, l'INFN a dégagé 0,5 Me de sa poche mais a ausis des contraintes de nbre maximum d'emplois possibles. Tres recemment, le groupe UNO a debloque 1 Me supplementaire: cela devrait permettre de debloquer la procedure d'appel d'offre R&D 4 cote US le DOE a officiellment ecrit a SLAC pour lui demander de faire d'ici fin Novembre plusieurs scenarios de participaion americaine a SuperB : juste le materiel, materiel plus queleques personnes, contribution majeure et de chiffrer ces differentes options. le DoE voudrait de decider d'ici la fin de l'annee . Tout ceci est nettement positif et declenche en grande partie par la decision de plafonner la participation US au LHC et de garder un programme diversifie 5 Cote Japon Le changement de gouvernement a entraine comme prevu un reexamen complet des projets en cours. SuperKKE est donc dans l'attente et l'incetitude --comme nous!. Suite a une rencontre recente de Yamauchi et Giorgi decision recente d'inviter deux personnes superB à la prochaine reunion superKEK en NOvembre et reciproquempent à celle de decembre. 6 cote France Nosu avosn transmis à l'INFN la particpation franciase a l'accelrateur elaborée par A. variola pour servir d'anenxe au MoU entre INFN et IN2P3. ON attend une reaction de B. merlin de l'IN2P3 au projet de MoU et aussi des corrections de l'INFN. Espoirs de signer d'ici la find e l'année. Il faudra aussi faire l'inventaire de la participation detecteur.
