As you know our colleague and friend Sydney Galès sadly passed away on November 28 of last year. Sydney was known for his extensive work on nuclear structure using nuclear reactions. He led the AGOR cyclotron project, was director of IPN Orsay and GANIL, deputy director of IN2P3, chairman of NuPECC and scientific director of ELI-NP, among many other endeavors.
Sydney worked in several laboratories during his career but always considered IPN Orsay (now part of IJCLab) as his home base. Therefore, we are organizing a day of remembrance for Sydney on December 15 of this year from 9:30 to 17:00 at Orsay. We will celebrate his scientific achievements and managerial successes through presentations and short interventions of colleagues and collaborators.
