BESII is the updated version of BES, running in the Beijing
Electron-Positron Collider (BEPC). In this talk, I will show
the recent results got from the BESII J/Y and Y(2S) data
samples, including the study of the \"rho-pi puzzle\" in charmonium
decays, the hadronic and radiative transitions of charmonia,
and the light hadron spectroscopy from J/Y, Y(2S) and
ccJ decays. The BESIII detector at BEPCII, designed as a tau-charm factory with peak luminosity of 1033 cm-2 s-1 at
Y(3770) peak, is being constructed, and is expected to start data taking in 2007. The status will be reported.
