Description
Precise predictions from QCD of hadronic decay rates are needed for the experimental particle physics programme, particularly in B physics, but require the non-perturbative, and numerically very demanding, methods of lattice QCD. For the last twenty-five years theorists have been struggling with this problem on ever more powerful computers. Now new results with an improved formulation for quarks give agreement for the first time between QCD on the lattice and known hadron masses. This is the initial step for a wide range of useful calculations and I will describe the progress that is being made on these and plans for the future.
A l'issue de ce séminaire, les premiers résultats (encore préliminaires) obtenus sur les désintégrations semileptoniques des mésons charmés, dans BaBar, seront présentés par A. Oyanguren.
Les perspectives, en termes de précision et de variété des canaux étudiés, seront indiquées.
