This presentation will introduce Varian's research, innovation, and development process, the leading manufacturer of radiation therapy devices and radiation therapy solutions. After the introduction of Varian, now a Siemens Healthineers Company, today's product portfolio focusing on external beam radiation therapy (EBRT) devices used in high-energy X-ray therapy and essential imaging applications used in modern EBRT will be presented. Varian's innovation and research process are described based on the successful history of radiation therapy, today's technical innovations, and the cancer problem we face.
For a high-tech company, innovation and research must be materialized, released to the market, and appreciated by customers to become successful products distributed worldwide. The presentation reviews the process of transitioning innovation into the development process, the development cycles including testing, releasing, and approving commercial products for medical use. Challenges such as the reliability and upgradability of our solutions will be addressed together with our processes, ensuring the manufacturing quality of our high-tech subsystems of the radiation therapy delivery systems.
