Description

In this talk, I will discuss QED corrections to the decay process \bar{B} \to \bar{K} \ell^+ \ell^- at the full differential level, based on an EFT approach (https://arxiv.org/abs/2009.00929). Particular focus will be given to the treatment and cancellation of IR divergences (both soft and collinear). I will show that, while the cancellation of the soft divergences always happens at the differential level, collinear divergences may or may not cancel depending on the kinematic variables used at the differential level, and on whether a cut on the photon energy is imposed. The phase slicing method used to separate the IR divergences analytically will be discussed in detail. I will also show how gauge invariance allows all collinear divergences to be captured through this EFT approach.
