The Quantum Priority Research Program and Equipment represents the upstream component of the national acceleration strategy dedicated to quantum technologies, announced in January 2021. Its aim is to support academic research efforts, ranging from fundamental research to proof of concept. The State is strongly committed to the issue of developing quantum technologies for reasons of national and European sovereignty: the goal is to remain at the highest level of international scientific and industrial competition, but above all to ensure that France and Europe have their own solutions to guarantee independence in this key field.

CECAM (Centre Européen de Calcul Atomique et Moléculaire) promotes fundamental research on advanced computational methods and their application to important problems in frontier areas of science and technology. The missions of CECAM include the organization of scientific workshops in emerging areas, advanced schools to train at the graduate and postdoctoral level, workshops on algorithmic and software development, the development of collaborative research projects for Europe and beyond, and the sponsorship of an international visitors program.
CECAM-FR-GSO
Established in 2012, the CECAM-FR-GSO node is hosted at the Université Paul Sabatier in Toulouse and covers the south west region of France

Pôle de recherche Chimie Montpellier
It represents the creation of a privileged hub for scientific transformation, addressing socio-economic and environmental challenges, with the aim of developing chemistry that serves both humanity and the environment.
It serves as a space for bringing research structures together and fostering scientific dialogue, in order to develop joint initiatives among the members of the I-SITE.

Institut Charles Gerhardt Montpellier (ICGM)
The Charles Gerhardt Montpellier Institute (UMR 5253) is a multidisciplinary research laboratory made up of five departments bringing together nearly 500 staff. The ICGM contributes to the development of chemical research with the aim of developing and characterizing complex materials presenting functionalities with a strong societal impact, particularly in the fields of health, the environment and energy.

Alice & Bob is working to develop a universal quantum computer capable of running all types of algorithms, including those currently executed by classical computers. Unlike the techniques used by other research laboratories, this computer would be free from quantum decoherence thanks to a method that limits the error rate inherent to conventional quantum computers. Such systems would rely on “cat qubits” instead of traditional qubits, a reference to Schrödinger’s cat paradox. This research builds on the work on resonant cavity theory by Nobel Prize winners in Physics, Serge Haroche and David Wineland.
RÉactions, Structure et Astrophysique Nucléaire: Experiences et Théories (RESANET)
Fundamental nuclear physics focuses on the quantum and statistical properties of the atomic nucleus and on fundamental symmetries. It provides a framework for investigating the many-body problem and effective approaches, and it naturally benefits from studies carried out at particle accelerators. It is also closely connected to many disciplines, as it shares theoretical concepts with condensed matter physics, atomic physics, and quantum chemistry. Furthermore, it helps decipher signals from the universe to understand the origin of nuclei, violent astrophysical processes such as novae, kilonovae, and supernovae, as well as compact stars like neutron stars.
In this context, the GDR RESANET (Nuclear Reactions, Structure, and Astrophysics: Experiments and Theories) will foster the exchange of new theoretical and experimental ideas and strengthen collaborations at the interfaces with other disciplines. The GDR’s mission is to unite research teams from the CNRS, universities, and the CEA working on low-energy nuclear physics—experimental, theoretical, and observational—around shared actions and projects.
