Scientific program

This workshop aims at gathering experts across the high-energy astrophysics community to define a new generation of analysis tools using advanced algorithms to maximize the scientific return of our complex X-ray datasets.

The meeting will be structured around review presentations, contributed talks, followed by tutorials and discussion/work sessions.

The main topics that will be discussed are:

  • XRISM/Resolve high spectral resolution science
    • SNRs and galaxy clusters (J. Vink, A. Simionescu TBC)
    • Challenges of extended sources analysis with XRISM (F. Mernier)

  • Current status of X-ray spectral analysis (Atomic data base, background, etc)
    • Atomic data base and spectral analysis (L. Gu)
    • Handling of background in extended sources (?)

  • New approaches to model fitting
    • Nested sampling and BXA (J. Buchner, P. Boorman TBC)
    • Fast parameter inference (S. Dupourque)

  • NewAthena science perspectives and challenges
    • NewAthena status and analysis challenges (D. Barret)
    • SIXTE simulations of extended sources (C. Kirsch TBC)

  • Advanced methods for X-ray analysis
    • Exploiting the 3d nature of X-ray data: parameter mapping, data fusion, etc (J. Lascar)
