Description

In this talk, I will present the Authenticated Transfer (AT) Protocol, a recently debuted internet protocol that enables low-latency, decentralized, global data transfer. Although originally intended as a building block for the social web, the AT Protocol has recently been generating interest as a tool for sharing data. I will present our project - The Astrosky Ecosystem - which has been working to benefit astronomers on the AT Protocol, both by enabling discovery of astronomy content online and through investigations of data streaming on the protocol. I will discuss how data can be streamed and provide examples, such as our efforts over the last months to provide an alternative to the NASA GCNS transient stream, or the matadisco project that has been reposting ESA image and data metadata. Finally, I will outline how the protocol could be used to decentralize and streamline how astronomical transients and data are shared.
