After having reviewed present results on the production of D** mesons, in B decays, we explain that values expected from present evaluations and those quoted by experiments are not correct (by a factor about 5) for the states with an S-wave decay into D pi or D* pi.
We propose a model, which satisfies well founded theoretical expectations and present measurements, by including contributions from DV and D*V in addition to D** decays.
This model predicts distributions, for the various kinematic variables that describe non-leptonic and semi-leptonic B decays, which differ from usual simulations.
Some perspectives to validate this model and to include higher mass resonances will be indicated.
