The 2nd annual meeting will be held at: Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin, Albert-Einstein-Straße 15 in 12489 Berlin, Germany. The entrance is located at coordinates 52.428129, 13.532125
In most cases, you will arrive by S-Bahn at the station S Adlershof. From here, you can either walk to HZB or take the tram lines M17, 63 or Bus line 164. With any option you need to exit the station Magnusstraße walk the remaining distance.
How to reach Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin
Public transport:
Public transport in Berlin is operated by the BVG, S-Bahn and regional trains of the German railways service DB. You can use your ticket with all the means of transport offered by these services. While for your travel within Berlin it is sufficient to have a ticket for the zones AB, you need a zones ABC ticket to travel to or from the airport. If you have a valid AB ticket, you can buy an extension ticket.
It is easiest to get around installing the BVG app to buy tickets online. You have to validate a ticket before entering any train. Your online ticket has a counter activated after purchase, it will be only valid after this is finished.
Depending how long you plan to stay and where your hotel is located, you might want to get a Welcome Card.
By airplane:
Berlin's main and only airport is the BER Flughafen Berlin-Brandenburg. It is about half an hour to forty minutes travel by public transport (S-Bahn) from BER to HZB. You may of course also use taxi, uber, care-sharing and German railways service, but S-Bahn with the lines S9 (direction Spandau) and S85 (direction Frohnau) should be the easiest. Ticket price for a single trip is 5€ (Berlin ABC zone, single fare).
The S-Bahn trains are going every 10 minutes.
By railways:
There are two railways stations in Berlin, which are convenient to reach and to travel onwards to our HZB campus in Adlershof. The Berlin Hauptbahnhof and Bahnhof Südkreuz. Both are connected with the long distance fast trains Intercity Express with service to Hamburg, Hannover, Cologne, Munich, Leipzig, etc.
- For Südkreuz: Go to the S-Bahn platform and take the S46 with direction Königs Wusterhausen
- For Hauptbahnhof: Go to the S-Bahn platform and take the S9 with direction to BER airport.
The venue:
The iSAS meeting will take place in two building of HZB Adlershof.
The main building, you have to enter for arrival and registration. This is called in the program and the map below 14.51. Here will be the registration, the main lecture hall for the plenary session, the coffee breaks, lunch and dinner. Also, here are meeting rooms for some work package parallel sessions and the governing board meeting.
Some meeting rooms, which are marked by 13.10-DXXX are located in a dark grey building at Magnusstraße 2. Here we will have some of the parallel work package meetings of the first day.
