Le matin du 6 aura lieu la cérémonie de remise du prix Lagarrigue 2023 à Daniel Fournier qui après avoir été à la fin des années 1970 le premier en France à construire un calorimètre électromagnétique à argon liquide pour l'expérience CELLO à Hambourg, a su complètement renouveler ce concept pour l'adapter à l’expérience ATLAS au CERN avec une géométrie originale en accordéon. Ce sous-détecteur a été l’élément clef dans la découverte du boson de Higgs en 2012. Parmi ses autres contributions scientifiques remarquables, il faut également mentionner la mise en évidence de la violation directe de CP avec NA31. Dans toutes ces expériences, Daniel Fournier a joué un rôle de premier plan au niveau international. Son profil est donc tout à fait adapté pour honorer la mémoire d'André Lagarrigue avec qui il partage la passion de l'enseignement et de la transmission du savoir.
L’après-midi sera consacrée à célébrer l’anniversaire des 50 ans de la découverte des courants neutres faibles. Il s'agit d'observations importantes à l'appui de la théorie de l'unification des forces électromagnétiques et faibles qui est l’un des piliers du Modèle Standard actuel des particules et de leurs interactions. Cette découverte a eu lieu au CERN à l’aide de la chambre à bulle Gargamelle pour laquelle les contributions des physiciens, ingénieurs et techniciens des laboratoires du LAL, LLR et du CEA Saclay ont été de tout premier plan.
Les présentations seront données en francais ou en anglais mais toutes les planches seront en anglais.
Un buffet, réservé aux participants inscrits, sera servi entre 12h00 et 14h00 dans la cafétéria du bâtiment 200. L'inscription est obligatoire pour participer au buffet.

On the morning of the 6th, the Lagarrigue 2023 prize will be awarded to Daniel Fournier, who, at the end of the 1970s, was the first person in France to build a liquid argon electromagnetic calorimeter for the CELLO experiment at Hamburg, and then completely renewed the concept to adapt it to the ATLAS experiment at CERN with an original accordion geometry. This sub-detector was the key element in the discovery of the Higgs boson in 2012. His other remarkable scientific contribution includes the discovery of direct CP violation with NA31. In all these experiments, Daniel Fournier has played a leading role at international level. His profile is therefore perfectly suited to honouring the memory of André Lagarrigue, with whom he shares a passion for teaching and passing on knowledge.
The afternoon will be devoted to celebrating the 50th anniversary of the discovery of weak neutral currents. These are important observations in support of the theory of the unification of the electromagnetic and weak forces, which is one of the pillars of the current Standard Model of particles and their interactions. This discovery was made at CERN using the Gargamelle bubble chamber, to which physicists, engineers and technicians from the LAL (one of the founding laboratories of IJCLab), LLR and CEA Saclay laboratories made major contributions.
Presentations will be given in French or English, but all slides will be in English.
For registered participants, a buffet will be served between 12.00 and 14.00 in the cafeteria of building 200. Registration is mandatory to attend the lunch.
