Dear participant,
Here are some additional practical informations, and several reminders, before your arrival.
All informations are posted online, and were updated:
https://indico.ijclab.in2p3.fr/event/7633
We also invite you to join the School's slack:
https://join.slack.com/t/isappschool/shared_invite/zt-15nnvt54h-sCWCqZn1gk~DJZbzGtoPbQ
It will be used for exchanges between students, and with lecturers.
Reminders:
- Directions between Paris, IPa and Residhome are on:
https://indico.ijclab.in2p3.fr/event/7633/page/186-venue
We recommand you bring adapted shoes for the trail climbing in the forest between IPa and Residhome.
- Please prepare your presentation before arriving at the school!
Each presentation should last 5 minutes at most (~ 3 slides as a guideline), focusing on your research topic. Your slides will not be posted on the web. The schedule of these student presentations may be modified, so please consider you may give your presentation any day starting from Tuesday 29 March on.
- On Friday 1 April in the afternoon, we will visit the NectarCAM facility, and other stuff, at the nearby CEA laboratory. We will join CEA by bus, and to enter the place you will need to have your ID or passport with you (NOT a driving licence).
- Except for the arrival day, lunches will take place at the CESFO restaurant just in front of IPa. See the indico for dining options (when no social lunch is foreseen): Résidhome rooms are equipped with small kitchenettes. You may buy your own food at a minimarket located downtown Bures (see map). The university restaurant "CROUS - Les cèdres" is open in the evening (everybody may access but low prices guaranteed for French students only). We also provide a list of restaurant suggestions in the neighbourhood.
- Internet connection at IPa: you will connect to the wifi with eduroam.
If you don't have eduroam, we will provide you with a wifi access, please ask for it in that case.
- During the whole course of the school, shared offices will be at your disposal at the Institut Pascal.
- Arrival and first day:
If you stay at Residhome during the night of Sunday 27 March, you will join Residhome on your own. You may join IPa on Monday morning and get an office there at any time starting at 9:00.
If you travel on Monday morning, please join IPa directly (with your luggage): expect a transportation time of up to ~2 hr from Charles-de-Gaulle airport to the Institute.
A lunch buffet will be given at IPa, before the first lecture at 14:00. For this first day, a bus will be there to bring people (especially those with luggages) from IPa to Residhome, in the evening at 18:00.
- Covid rules: recently, restrictions in France were significantly reduced. A vaccine pass is no longer required to enter Institut Pascal, restaurants, etc. Even the mask is not mandatory anymore in certain closed spaces (it is still mandatory eg. in public transports). However:
1) Sanitary restrictions / conditions still apply to enter France from your own country (vaccine pass or test)!
Please check very carefully the conditions that apply to enter France from your country, this is your responsibility!
2) Covid is still actively circulating, with cases rising again in France and other European countries. We therefore very highly recommend that you apply reasonable physical distancing measures, in particular please wear a mask inside IPa whenever it is possible. And test/isolate in case of doubt!
Foreseen social events:
- Welcome cocktail on Monday 28 after the Astrophysics introductory course.
- We foresee to have three discussion/buffet sessions at IPa, around ~18:00 - 20:00 ("wine&cheese" style). Those should take place on Tuesday 29, Thursday 31 March, and Tuesday 5 April.
- A diner at the "Gramophone" restaurant in Orsay on Thursday 7 April.
- On Saturday morning, a bus will leave at 9:30 from Résidhome to Paris directly: we will have a one-hour-long cruise on the Seine, starting from a harbour close to the Tour Eiffel. This will leave you free inside Paris for lunch and the afternoon.
