The "Rencontres de Noirmoutier 2026" conference will be held in the island of Noirmoutier (France) from the 1rst to the 5th of June 2026
Village vacances des Quatre Vents
Two satellite events are attached to this conference :
- A public conference on May 31tst by Roland Lehoucq (in french) « Enquête sur Interstellar »
- A day, "Histoires de temps", on saturday june 6th, dedicated to various approaches of time through physics, neuroscience, psychology, philosophy and a round table about links between these different views and way each of us live time. On line transcription in french and english. Details and registration here.
Outreach events :
- ILE project (Infini à l'ECOLE, ile.in2p3.fr) in some elementary schools on May 28th and 29th
- A Village of Science at Intermarché supermaket of Noirmoutier on May 30th
- Lectures in surrounding High schools by PhDs or Postdocs

Exploring dense matter physics with neutron star observations
Nuclear experiments and theory both fail to describe the behavior of dense and highly isospin asymmetric matter in relatively low temperature regimes. Such matter is however present in the deepest layers of the highly compact astrophysical objects that are neutron stars. In this talk, we discuss how astrophysical constraints based on multi-messenger observations of neutron stars have constrained the equation of state of dense matter and what improvements are expected with the next generation of detectors and observatories.

Gamma-ray emission from supermassive black hole jets
Jets from supermassive black holes (SMBHs) shine at all wavelengths, and in particular they represent the majority of extragalactic gamma-ray sources. In this talk, I will review the observational status of gamma-ray emission from SMBH jets, and will then discuss the radiative processes at work in these environments, highlighting what we can learn from these observations and what future detectors can improve in our current understanding’
